What's the difference between a Bug and a Technical Issue?

It's very easy to get these two things mixed up. This article is intended to clear up any confusion and help you make sure that you're raising the issue the right way so we can get it sorted! The difference between the two essentially boils down to:

 A technical issue is anything that is preventing you from being able to load, or play any Jagex products.
A bug is an error in the coding of the game that affects the way it runs. We consider a bug to be any piece of broken code that stops the game or website working as it should. An example of this would be: being awarded 10000XP instead of the usual 10 for completing a common task.

Bug reports may include, but are not limited to:

  • Points in a quest where you can't continue due to a quest becoming impossible to complete
  • Map areas where you can get stuck or that don't look quite right
  • Graphical glitches such as stretching or animations not playing properly
  • Spelling and grammatical errors

It’s really helpful if you make sure that when you report anything to us, you are using the right reporting method. That way, the reports go straight to the right people, and we can make the fixes we need to as soon as we can.

How do I report a website bug?

If you've found a bug with our website, or one of it's features then you can let us know about it using this page and follow the steps below:

1. Choose the Website/Technical option

2. Read through the information page and then press "continue"

3. Select a category from the drop down menu

4. Give your bug report a title - preferably one that outlines the reported issue!

5. Describe the problem - please go into as much detail as you can!

6. Once you've entered all of the information, press "continue" to submit your report.
