Where has my character name gone?

If you log in to game and are asked to enter a new character name or receive an email from Jagex addressed to 'Name unavailable' this means that your account does not currently have a character name set. 

If you're asked to choose a new name get creative and think of something cool. 

Note: If your account uses a login name, this will never change. 

There are several reasons your account may not have an active character name:

  • Character names are automatically removed from accounts after a long period of inactivity, which also removes your name from HiScores
  • If your account has been compromised, a third party might have changed your character name, we are unable to restore the name but please make sure your account is secure so it doesn't happen again
  • Please be aware that inappropriate names are removed
