Graphical Problems

These articles help players resolve graphical issues.

Frame Rate Issues
If you're seeing your frames per second drop while playing RuneScape, check out how to tell graphical FPS drops and lag apart!

Check the Minimum Specifications
Using the Minimum Specifications, you can find out the level of graphical intensity your computer should run with stable FPS.

TIP - If you're playing Old School this will only run in graphical Safe Mode. This uses your CPU instead of your graphics card, so will generally have low FPS.

Change your graphics settings
Check out Graphics Settings to find out what they do, and how to use them.

Laptop setup
If you're using a laptop, there are a couple of things that can cause FPS drops or other graphical problems.

Check out the main laptop specific solutions

Glitches
If graphical textures are all looking different (warped, or even just a different colour), try clearing RuneScape or Old School's cache.

Bugs
If you load the game and the item, equipment or area still looks out of the ordinary, you may have encountered a bug! You can check out our bug specific pages – for RuneScape and Old School.

Old Style
If your RuneScape client's content (the map, chatbox, inventory, etc.) start looking different (similar to Old School), you may have ended up in Legacy mode. Check out what Legacy mode is, and how to switch in and out of it!

Sizing (Windows 10)
On Windows 10, if you are using a high resolution screen, you may find that the login screen and the interfaces in-game are scaled down. This is caused by a Windows 10 update and can be fixed.
