Frame Rate Issues
If you're seeing your frames per second drop while playing RuneScape, check out how to tell graphical FPS drops and lag apart!
Check the Minimum Specifications
Make sure your device meets the Recommended Specifications.
TIP - If you're playing Old School this will only run in graphical Safe Mode. This uses your CPU instead of your graphics card, so will generally have low FPS.
Change your graphics settings
If your device is struggling to show the graphic details of the game, try reducing your Graphics Settings.
PC Performance
If you're having issues with graphics, this might be a sign of an underlining performance issue. We've outline some performance troubleshooting steps here.
Textures
If graphical textures are all looking different (warped, or even just a different colour), try clearing your cache.
Old style
If your RuneScape client's content (the map, chatbox, inventory, etc.) start looking different (similar to Old School), you may have ended up in Legacy mode. Check out what Legacy mode is, and how to switch in and out of it!
Correct graphics card
If your device has a dedicated graphics card, your device might automatically use your onboard graphics processor - rather than the more powerful dedicated card. As a result, this may cause low FPS or other performance issues. Find out what graphics processing unit you are using and ensure that you are using the correct one.
Bugs
If you load the game and the item, equipment or area still looks out of the ordinary, you may have encountered a bug! You can check out how to report a bug.
