RuneScape is enjoyed by gamers of all ages and we always encourage our gamers to get involved in the community to make new friends and have great adventures. Therefore, you need be safe and always need to remember that people online may not be who they say they are.

What counts as personal information?

  • Real name
  • Email address
  • Home address
  • Phone number
  • Credit card information
  • Messenger handle

What classes as a messenger handle?

This includes other RuneScape accounts names but refers mainly to third party social applications. For example but not limited to:

  • Skype
  • TeamSpeak
  • FaceBook
  • Twitter
  • SnapChat
  • Kik
  • Whatsapp

Why should I not share these details?

Asking for, or giving out personal information is against the Rules_of_RuneScape. If someone in-game asks you for personal information then you should politely say no, you could even recommend that they visit the safety centre themselves.

What if they don't take no for an answer?

If they are persistent or make you feel uncomfortable, then you should ignore and report the player as guided here.

What if they are asking someone else and not me?

If you witness or experience persistent requests for personal information you can also report such incidences to our verified external agencies listed here.
