Remove Ironman status

Ironman Mode is an account type in both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape that encourages you to be entirely self-sufficient. If the challenge is too much you can change your account status.

The Permanent Ironman option is no longer available in either game mode.

Old School RuneScape

To remove your Ironman status in Old School RuneScape:

1. Speak to the Ironman tutor outside of Lumbridge Castle
2. Choose to remove or downgrade your Ironman account
   • Ensure you read all the information provided by the Ironman tutor, as there might be some irreversible changes to your account depending on which mode you select 
3. You'll enter a 7-day or 90-day grace period that cannot be bypassed
   • If you have second thoughts, you can speak to the Ironman tutor again

By default, new solo Ironman accounts will have a cool-down delay of 7 days before downgrading. Once the account has established itself with a skill total of 1,000, players can opt for a longer 90-day cooldown instead, but once this is activated, it cannot be reversed and switching back to the 7-day cooldown will no longer be possible.

Players who had previously chosen the "Permanent" option can now ask the Ironman tutor to downgrade them, provided they have upgraded to a Jagex Account; this will take effect after the 90-day cooldown.

RuneScape

To remove your Ironman status in RuneScape:

1. Speak to Mr Ex in Edgeville
2. Purchase the Book of Diplomacy
3. Read the book to start the Ironman removal process
4. You'll enter a 7-day or 90-day grace period that cannot be bypassed
   • If you have second thoughts, you can speak to Mr Ex again 

By default, all accounts will have a cool-down delay of 7 days before downgrading. Players can opt for a longer 90-day cooldown instead, but once this is activated, it cannot be reversed and switching back to the 7-day cooldown will no longer be possible.

Players who had previously asked Mr Ex to never sell them the Book of Diplomacy will now be able to downgrade, provided they have upgraded to a Jagex Account.
