These troubleshooting steps may resolve the following issues:
- Client won't open
- Client is stuck on 'Loading resources'
- Error message: "The RuneScape client suffered from an error during graphics initialisation"
- Black screen
- Stuck on the loading screen on mobile
Get up to date
Update your programs, drivers and Operating System.
MacOS login issues
If you see either of these error messages below when trying log in via Mac please follow the advice below:
- "Failed to login. Please try again"
- "No Response from server. Please try again using a different world"
Please try updating your Mac to the latest version to continue playing.
Clear cache
Cache files can become damaged/corrupted over time and start causing problems in-game.
Clearing your cache files will force the client to download fresh copies of these files, which can help to resolve some of these issues.
Create a new profile on windows
This allows us you to check if the issue is caused by certain programs on your main profile. Try creating a new profile on Windows 7/8 or Windows 10/11, and you should be able to load the client on the new profile.
Browser settings
If you're encountering an infinite loading screen while on mobile, this issue is being caused by a setting within the Brave Browser. To resolve this you will need to complete the following steps:
Open Brave > Menu > Settings > Click on "Brave Shields & privacy" > Scroll down to "Other privacy settings" section > Enable setting called "Allow app links to open in apps outside of Brave"
